Bud and Doug are inseparable companions. Together, they’ve crafted a colossal musical about Johannes Gutenberg (yes, the printing-press pioneer) complete with a massive cast and lavish spectacle. After pouring their souls into it, they’re unveiling the whole extravaganza in a single backer’s audition, performing every role themselves with nothing but a mountain of baseball caps, explosive enthusiasm, and the tireless support of their pianist, Charles. Monks, villagers, tavern girls, or essential characters like “Friend of Gutenberg” and “Another Woman” – no part is too odd, too earnest, or too improvised for these two.
Richard Carroll (Murder For Two, The Pirates of Penzance) helms Australia’s first staging of Gutenberg! since its record-breaking Broadway run in 2023–24.
