Murder, Mistletoe, and Mayhem: A Killer Christmas Returns
It’s beginning to look a lot like… murder! After slaying audiences across the country – from its breakout seasons at the Hayes in 2023 to a killer run at Adelaide Cabaret Festival and beyond – the musical-comedy hit Murder For Two is back in 2025 with a brand-new Christmas Edition. And this time, the stockings aren’t the only things getting stuffed.
Back at the piano (and playing literally everyone in the room) are the show’s original partners in crime: Maverick Newman – hailed by The Sydney Morning Herald as “a rocketship, shedding and shifting characters as he soars towards the stratosphere” – and musical-comedy dynamo Gabbi Bolt (Spicks & Specks, Ratatouille the TikTok Musical). Together, they deliver a festive whodunnit packed with sharp wit, musical brilliance, and just enough yuletide chaos to keep you guessing who’s next on the naughty list.
Directed by Hayes Co-Artistic Director Richard Carroll (Calamity Jane, Godspell), Murder For Two: Christmas Edition turns the classic murder mystery inside out – and wraps it in tinsel. Expect quick-fire character swaps, piano duels, candy-cane conspiracies, and a blizzard of bad behaviour.
It’s part musical, part farce, part festive crime spree – and 100% holiday havoc. So pour yourself a stiff eggnog, hang your wreaths with care, and prepare for a show that proves murder is the reason for the season.
