The hunt is on! Monkey Baa Theatre Company is bringing one of Australia’s most beloved picture books to life for the very first time –Where is the Green Sheep? Based on the classic story by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek, this vibrant new stage adaptation, written for the stage and directed by Eva Di Cesare, promises a delightful adventure filled with colour, laughter, and a little mystery.
Beloved by families around the world and winner of the CBCA Book of the Year – Early Childhood, Where is the Green Sheep? has sold over a million copies. Now, audiences can step inside the pages and join the search in a spectacular visual theatre experience that celebrates curiosity and play.
Meet the charming cast of characters: Blue Sheep who adores his blue flowers, Red Sheep who cartwheels through the fields, Bath Sheep who loves bubbles, and Bed Sheep who can’t resist a good bounce. But the big question remains – where is that Green Sheep?
Through a playful blend of puppetry, animation, and music, this immersive production invites young audiences (and the young at heart) to join three farmers on a whimsical quest across rolling hills, through starry nights, and into the imagination itself.
Developed in collaboration with students from Bankstown West Public School, Where is the Green Sheep? features the children’s voices as narrators, creating a truly heartfelt and relatable experience that connects directly with young theatre-goers.
A co-production with Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Out of the Box Festival, in association with Arts Centre Melbourne, Sydney Opera House, and The Art House, Wyong, this enchanting show is a joyful celebration of creativity, discovery, and the magic of childhood wonder.
