Pretty Woman review

If you loved Pretty Woman the film, you’ll almost certainly enjoy Pretty Woman: The Musical. It follows the story of Vivian Ward, a sex worker in Hollywood who crosses paths with Edward Lewis, a wealthy and work-obsessed businessman with little time for anything beyond his schedule. Vivian, in contrast, has time but few opportunities – a dynamic that sets the foundation for their unlikely connection.

Their relationship grows in ways neither expects, reminding us that love can appear in the most unexpected places. It did make me reflect, though: in an age of SatNav and Google Maps, would their chance encounter even be possible today?

Samantha Jade and Ben Hall deliver strong performances as Vivian and Edward. Samantha brings a balance of vulnerability, wit, and resilience to Vivian, while Ben’s calm and composed Edward provides the perfect counterpoint. They may seem like an unlikely match, but then again, many real-life couples are too.

I also have to mention the two opera singers (played by Rebecca Gulinello and Callum Warrender) – their voices are absolutely extraordinary and added a stunning musical highlight to the show.

If you’re looking for an uplifting, feel-good production, this one definitely delivers. It’s the kind of show that leaves you believing in love – and in a little bit of magic – all over again.
