After last year’s global phenomenon became the highest-grossing Broadway-to-film adaptation in history, the saga now reaches its sweeping, heart-thumping finale in Wicked: For Good.

Directed once again by Jon M. Chu, the film reunites its powerhouse cast, led by Oscar-nominated Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The story picks up with Elphaba and Glinda living worlds apart, each grappling with the fallout of the choices that sent them down separate paths.

Elphaba (Erivo), branded the Wicked Witch of the West, has vanished into the forests of Oz. From hiding, she presses on with her fight to free the Animals and uncover the truth about The Wizard (Goldblum).
Glinda, meanwhile, has become the glittering face of “Good,” basking in fame at the Emerald City palace. Guided by the formidable Madame Morrible (Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh), Glinda is tasked with soothing the citizens and keeping faith in The Wizard alive.

As Glinda’s star rises and her wedding to Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) approaches, the space between the two former friends grows heavier. Her attempt to reunite Elphaba and The Wizard only deepens the divide, setting off a chain of events that reshapes Boq (Ethan Slater), Fiyero, and Elphaba’s sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode). The arrival of a girl from Kansas sends everything spinning into chaos.

With an enraged mob closing in, Glinda and Elphaba must face each other one last time. Their bond becomes the hinge on which the fate of Oz — and their own futures — swings. Only through honesty and compassion can they hope to change anything at all, especially themselves.

The cast also includes Emmy nominee Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James as Glinda’s ever-adoring aides, Pfannee and ShenShen, and BAFTA and Grammy nominee Sharon D. Clarke as the voice of Dulcibear, Elphaba’s childhood caregiver.

Producers Marc Platt p.g.a. and David Stone return, joined by executive producers Stephen Schwartz, David Nicksay, Jared LeBoff, Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. The first film, released in November 2024, earned 10 Oscar nominations — including Best Picture — and won for Costume Design and Production Design. It has earned $750 million globally.

Wicked: For Good draws from the landmark stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, based on Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel. The screenplay is by Winnie Holzman and Winnie Holzman & Dana Fox, with a score by John Powell & Stephen Schwartz and songs by Schwartz.
